First of all, I hope im in the right forum.

Lately I found out that my Xbox was having difficulties. I am playing on a 37" LCD over HDMI at 720p. It started showing somehow 16bit colors. By all means, gradients weren't full color anymore and were clearly built up from layers of colors. Not good.
A couple days later the screen started flickering a red glow over some parts of the screen. This was for instance the air in NFS:Shift. After a while the flickering became worse and even annoying.

I tried to solve something. I found out that the HDMI output was 1080p, since I played in a weekend at my parents' home and set it like that. I re-set the settings because of the problems back to 720p and the rest of the settings to automatic.

Since than the problems didnt solve at all. I even got into more trouble. Now the Xbox does not boot anymore! I get the message that there is no input at the tv. This happens occasionaly.

I found this thing on the internet where they explain how to reset these settings by holding Y+RT while booting. This has helped me a couple of times, but now it doesnt even work at all!

I know its not my HDMI, since im typing from my pc now using the same cable (so its not my tv either!)...

Does anyone know whats is up with my XBOX? And maybe even how to solve this? Thanks in advance..

Ok, now my xbox is simply dead. I dont see any red-rings (only green) yet with a AV-cable there is no display nor sound.

Sending to MS is useless since I void the warranty.

could be your whole console has died.

You might as well try sending it in to Mircosoft. Call, and if they don't let you, go online and fill out the request.

Many people have tried both ways, get rejected one, but then accepted another.

Without a Warranty sticker?

well, mine was cut, and I still sent mine in. I received a refurb.

Additionally, you can buy a warranty sticker on ebay.

I wouldn't buy one until MS (possibly) sends you a box to send it in. Wait for them to do that, then buy a new warranty sticker.

Hm. I think I can try. Still have to find my receipt though.
Does it matter that my clase has clear scratches from opening it?

Was the x-clamp applied before? I fixed a xbox 360 before with no video and sound with the x-clamp procedure. Also try resetting the display settings to default settings. To reset the display settings of the Xbox 360 console to the default settings, follow these steps:

1. Remove any discs from the disc tray.
2. Turn the console off.
3. Turn the console on. Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn the console on by using the Xbox Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left quadrant light illuminated.
4. As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time.
5. The Xbox Dashboard resets the display settings to the default settings, and then automatically restarts the console.

I would try to clean off the scratches as much as possible, but I would still try to send it in.

I just requested RMA at MS. You guys really think I can make a chance to get it fixed, although i dont have a warranty sticker anymore?
And do I have to restore the fw of the drive?

Would recommend spending £8 on a warranty sticker so you will get it fixed, and yes would also recommend flashing back to OFW.

I would also definitely recommend getting a warranty sticker (after microsoft confirms that they are sending you a box for a rma/return/refurb).

I didn't flash back to the original firmware on the box I sent in, but if you want, go ahead and take the extra step. Can't hurt.

Ya get a new warranty sticker, maybe restore original firmware, and send to microsoft. But most people when modding it tear or cut the warranty stick off of their xbox when they don't have to. Just get a piece of wax paper and a hair dryer, heat up right where the sticker is so it becomes easy to peel, and then stick on the wax paper. Then if you ever need to send in just heat up the sticker again peel off wax paper and stick on xbox.

Yeah, I definitely sucks since I actually owned two warranty stickers, but I lost them 2 months ago when moving.
