Can you softmod a new Wii?

My buddy is about to buy a brand new Wii and he wants me to softmod it for him. I already know the mod don't work for LU64 and LU65, but I'm wondering if it still works on all Wii's but thoughs?

Actually the LU64 and 65 wiis can be softmodded now. The only ones that cannot be are the newest korean wii's.

When you say LU64 and 65 are you referring to the beginning of the Wii serial number?
