Softmod - Help on determining softmod on Wii

I am new to softmods, I have a Wii with Wiikey 1 which worked great for a couple years however the DVD drive will no longer read back-up or original games (wiikey or drive may have given out).

I had a fellow softmod my Wii for $30 so I did not have to use the dvd reader. He added a USB Icon (program) to the menu for reading games from a hard drive. My question: How can I determine which type of softmod was placed on my Wii? I studied the forums and I know there are several possible softmods out there. If anyone has a sugestion to determine what type of softmod was used by looking on the SD memory card or some place else, please let me know.

there's only one softmod, but multiple ways of installing it. most likely the sd card was cleared out, and only has the needed files.

if not, check for either a zelda save or a boot.dol/elf in the root of the card.

You are correct, there is a file boot.dol in the root of the SD card. There were many folders and I noticed the the cios is at REV10 and have read there is a REV14. Do you think I need to update the cios level?
