Sorry to disappoint you, but..:

"As of the current moment in time please do not update your Wii consoles to version 4.2 this is a major anti piracy upgrade from Nintendo. You will NOT be able to downgrade your Wii console, you will NOT be able to recover with Bootmii installed as Boot2 and you will NOT be able to install any Homebrew."

Yes I have heard they work also but it is kind of pointless if you have no homebrew to run with it.

4.2 firmware is also supposed to patch known IOS slots that cIOS are installed to.

That's Lego Indiana Jones or NTSC only Smash Bros.
And yeah it doesn't look like much can be done without a new homebrew channel installer.

Folks are trying though (I mean really going at it). I'm not a bad person but it's just so interesting to me. It could be fun but I'm not that brave.

Very true. With IOS70 it appears Preloader is blocked, too. Anyone found any info on what else 4.2 'fixes' that hasn't got to do with eliminating howebrew?

Actually, I meant to ask: Is there anything positive that this update does? Anything at all? Or is it solely an anti-piracy thing?

no. it's designed to remove all homebrew traces installed, and rewrites the exploited IOS' with the newer patched ones.

nintendo will pull something like this for SMG2 and NSMBwii. they won't stop.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Apparently, it now is possible to install homebrew on a 4.2 system through the use of hackmii 0.5. Afterwards, install Preloader 0.30 with the new hacks.ini that prevents homebrew from being deleted again.

I'm off to bed, if anyone finds/posts links with preloader 0.30 (the official page still links to 0.29) I'm sure many people will be much obliged, including TS :)

update is not done automatically when you turn on the Wii. For you to update you have to initiate MANUALLY.

We will probably start getting tons of threads started due to DVDx Title ID being changed and apps that use it will need to be recompiled to look for the new Title ID of DVDx.

Negative :). Startpatch is nothing more than a Wii System Menu hack.
