I just got the Wii and I successfully softmodded it. I can run backup games and emulators through the homebrew channel via SD card. Now I want to know, Is there a way to install or link these applications to the Wii channel as soon as I turn on the system? I download the files from here straight onto the Wii:

The second question I have is that I clicked on SD card at the bottom of the Wii menu with my SD card with all my homebrew apps on it. The system froze. Rebooted and tried again and the system froze. Why is it freezing? I'm using a Sandisk 2GB Micro SD card in a PNY Micro SD to SD adapter.

If you want to have Emulators installed as a channel then you need to find them in WAD format and install them with WAD manager.

As to the SD card icon freezing when clicking on it.

Did you format the SD card after the softmod? If not then you might have Bannerbomb still on your SD card and it needs to be deleted. To check to see if Bannerbomb is still on the SD card do the folowing...

Go to the directory on the SD card of SD://Private>Wii>Title> now look in this directory for a aktn folder. If the folder is there then delete it.

If you formated or the aktn folder is not in the above directory then the issue could be due to using a Micro-SD card + Adapter.

I got it, Thank you. Now my last questions are that:
1. How safe is it to play a backed up game on DVD-R online?
2. If a game needs to be updated, can I update it? If not then is there a tutorial showing me how to self update?
