Help Backing Up Xbox 360 Games

Okay, so ive done my research, ive searched the forums and NO ONE has the same problem as me, of course so i need some help if you will.
I have a flashed TS-H943a ms5, fw ixtreme 1.6. i do the whole tray half in half out, power on the 360 and my computer reads the drive. in device manager it shows "TSST corp DVD-ROM TS-H943a SCSI cdRom device" under the CD drives. okay i can go into my computer and open a 360 game and see the Audio_TS and the Video_TS folders but when i open Xbox backup Creator everything is:
1. greyed out
2. this is the log:
"Found ODD: TSSTcorp DVD-ROM TS-H943A ms25 at [G]

ok so i was like damn i'll try Schtrom so i downloaded it, ran it, clicked extract..starts to work gets to 3% and says "can't extract dmi!"
so im at a loss, what am i doing wrong? or can i even rip games using the TS-H943A drive with ixtreme 1.6?

What version of XBOX Backup Creator are you using? You will have to use 2.9 as it supports the 0800 mode IX 1.6 drives. Also, I am pretty sure Schtrom does not support the IX 1.6 drives so that is probably why it failed when it tried to extract the security info.

I thought an updated version of schtrom was released that did support ripping with 0800 drives.

Looks like the latest version (at least where I am looking at) is 4.0 released 8/8/2008. I don't think it supports 0800 mode on IX 1.6 drives. Something to do with SSv2 in IX 1.6 drives I believe.

im currently using XBC v2.9
im not flashed with 1.6 xtrm0800.iso though, ive come to realize that may play a role in the problem. i dont want to re-flash my drive for 0800 either. but under the description of ixtreme 1.6 it says under the "new features: Integrated 0800 for game dumping including SS v2!"
so is just iXtreme 1.6 capable of extracting games?

see I tried the same thing and I am using a VIA Card but I installed the correct and latest drivers and I have the lastest XBC which is 2.9 3060 and I still am getting that media type not present and I have used this drive before I also relfashed it to the 0800 also and even that didnt work so I am out of ideas can someone please help

you shouldn't need to reflash it. Putting it into the vendor mode and making it viewable in windows is all that you should need.

leerage,,was it you that told me to install a certain driver if i had a VIA chipset,,,maybe it was someone else,,anyways there is a driver you need to install for it to work in windows,,and flash it with 0800 firmware,,i use it all the time now with my benq,,,if you have a nforce chipset on you computer should work no problems,,the VIA you need that driver,,ill look for it and post when i find it,,

i tried it that way and had problems to,,it would see it in windows but as soon as i put a game in,,nothing,,even with 2.9 XBC,, couldnt figure it out until someone here told me about that driver,,now it works great,,
