I have a problem Every time I convert avi to mpeg with tmpge encoder the file I covert is not good.It can be played with my dvd player but the image is see is jumping a few frames. So the movie is bad to look at. Its flipping (if that the right expression)
What is the best manner to convert avi through mpeg?

it could be the framerate. you might have encode it at 23.96fps. try encode using 3:2 pulldown.

flipping ? i can't see how its flipping, jittering maybe, or skipping.

Somtimes I wish to play an AVI on TV not PC.
Converting to VCD with TMPGenc is a pretty harsh way to accomplish this!
You are right about framerate shiroh, but uovi's AVI should then be jumping also. You cannot use IVTC pulldown on an AVI made at 24fps from a 30fps source - it's too late.
Can't you convert to MPEG without TMPGenc, using OSS Video Converter or something? Richie says Nero does it... You better find an easy way to do it because the resulting file is no great prize.

its diffenatly that ur not setting it to encode at your sources fps, download "g-spot codec information" to find out what system ur source uses, ntsc29.97fps, ntscfilm23.96fps or pal25fps, and then use the correct template that ur source has

also for motion search precision, what quality are you setting it to?? normal is absolute crap, stay away, i'd suggest using high quality rather than highest, IMO theres no differance in quality from high to highest quality settings except that it takes double the time to encode on the highest quality setting, this will greatly improve your output and make it look more attactive(if you havent used the higher quality setting b4)

hope this helpz you out
cheerz...goodluck
