Hi everyone

Can anyone help me my little boys just stuck a jigsaw piece into the wii drive, i can't see it at all so i'm now going to take it apart and strip the drive down if it's possible. I was just wondering if anyone has done this before, how easy it is to get the dvd apart. I've modded the wii myself so taking that apart will be easy I HOPE hahaha.

Do anyone have any links to pics or videos on now to do this

its quite easy actually. First off you need to get the right materials.

Tri wing screw driver
regular screw driver - phillips head
mini screw driver - phillips head

go to this site and follow the tutorial to open up your wii.

After you get your wii opened you must dissasemble your wii drive by removing 4 screws through 2 openings holding the four corners of your wii drive.

After removing the screws you are able to lift up your wii disk drive. You will realize it is attached to two cables. One with a ribbon just lift of the brown latch to remove it and the other a side plug. Remove that by pulling to the right. Be sure to remember how to put these back because you are going to need to assemble it all back again. I suggest drawing images and writing where each screw goes and things like that. Or reverse the order of the tutorial in the link above.

Okay now to the hard part. Flip your drive so that the bottum side faces up. Meaning once you lift up your wii turn it upside down. There should be six to eight screws. By gently removing those screws you can lift up your wii drive casing [slowly so none of the gears fall out] and remove the jigsaw piece. Clean the lens if its dirty as well.
