I was wanting to buy a modchip for my new Wii, and seeing as how the serial number starts out with a 3, I doubt there is any black glue/epoxy on it. As a result I was wanting to buy a solderless modchip for it, and was wondering which would be better, the Wasabi DX, or the Wasabi Zero? I mean, the Wasabi DX can be reprogrammed by the JTAG programmer, while the Wasabi Zero is limited to DVDs, which while fine, is a bit limiting when it comes to rewriting the chip entirely. However, on the bright side, the Wasabit DX costs about half as much.

Also, out of curiosity, for the Wasabi DX, a clip is required. From what I understand wouldn't this involve a bit of soldering? How easy/hard is it, and if so, what would I be soldering?

I would save yourself the hassle and buy the Wasabi DX as it is a completely solderless modchip and although i have a modchip inside my wii that has a clip, i have read that other people have had various problems trying to install the clip with damaging the pins and the clip coming free of the chip it is connected to inside the wii.

The Wasabi DX has just a couple of cables you connect when installing this chip inside the wii (im also interested in this same modchip for a friends wii). The Wasabi DX will do just about everything you would probably need your wii to do with things such as being able to play backups, support for SSBB, configurable wii update blocker etc

Also with the Wasabi Zero i do believe that it is now a discontinued modchip but i could be wrong.

The Wasabi DX is easy to install no soldering required at all.
Easy to upgrade too.

But, i have sent an email to Wasabi support 10 days ago and not had any reply, webpage for wasabi has not been updated for some time!!!!

I am finding alot of the new NTSC games will not work now. All PAL games work with no issues.
