I have previously fixed a few boxes with 3 red lights using the x-clamp fix (6 bolt 32 washers etc etc) but i now have 1 that i cannot fix because it does not overheat. When the box turns on it gets 3 reds but nothing else. Can this be fixed or have i got a big white paperweight?
Anyone know what is up?

The only way they could get tighter is to remove a washer or get thinner ones they are perfect (for every other fix) at the mo but not working.

Does it stay 3 lights the entire time or does it go to 2 and the fan stops running?
I had one 360 that was a 2 light with no fans running and found a tut on cutting the temp trace on the mobo. That allowed me to get past the 2 light error into a 3 light one.

I got the exact same problem too.
3 flashing red lights,(which I've fixed before) and no matter how long it runs the 2 lights wont come on and the console doesn't get any hotter. At first I thought it was a problem with the power supply but after replacing it sadly realized that it was not. I'm thinking it has a damaged circuitboard or something but if anyone has any solutions or suggestions please let me know.

try removing the heatsinks from the gpu/cpu depending on your secondary error code and put a hairdryer to it.
Sorted out a few of them with that fix but to be honest i dont think it is worth fixing, they simply give the same error again in a while. sell the console on ebay as a rrod and get another one.
good luck!

This is the pic I found to use when locating the cpu temp. trace.
The black line indicates where to cut.
This was done as a last resort on a 360 that the customer didn't care about as he gets about 4 rrod 360's a month.

This seems like the best solution. Its toast. Something tells me no reasonable amount of repair will solve this problem. It seems like no power is getting to the unit (fans, disc drive, nothing) even though the power cord is brand new. Damaged circuit board.
And everyone lived unhappily ever after (until they got an Elite!!!).
Too bad I missed the $50 rebate.
