What functions do you have if your 360 is banned on live?

I was searching around but didn't quite find the answer I was looking for.
Mainly I am wondering if I will still be able to stream videos off the computer to the 360. It seems as though I should.
Also with a Live ban, does that mean anything related to online activities I will be excluded from like demos, netflix, and any other type of videos online?
Thank you for the clarification and sorry to post this if it's a common question asked.

You will be banned from Live itself. You can still stream videos from your PC to 360- or so I would think. Being banned from Live means no Marketplace which means no downloading of demos, videos, DLC, etc.

You can get updates via usb from xbox.com or you can update by a game (if a new wave is released, wave 3 includes nxe, so if another update is released there will need to be a wave 4 to include the update)

A Live ban means you lose all online functionality, so no online play, no downloading XBLA games or demos, no friends list, no Netflix, no game updates etc.
You can still stream media from a PC as that doesn't require a connection to Xbox Live. You can download demos elsewhere and burn them to disc and play them, and you should be able to obtain the latest dashboard update either from Xbox.com or from a game that has it on the disc.

No,
I believe what he was asking was if it is possible to download GAME UPDATES from Xbox live, not just dash updates.
We all know we can download dash updates from numerous sources. I don't know about downloading GAME UPDATES from other places.
I could be wrong on that, you might be able to get game updates from online, but I only know of downloading dash updates.

probably not, but why would you need to get the game update from a different place. either get it off the game, or you dont need it since you arent playing the game.

I've seen updates for a game that I haven't played in a while.
I had it happen with fallout 3 like a week ago. I hadn't played that game since its first release, but when I just popped it in, it said there was a game update. If there is a game update, and you're banned, I don't think you would get it.
But I could be wrong on that, so oh well.
And it looks like I've got 43 more to go. So maybe today/tomorrow. Then I'll be enlightened at AA?

for the game updates, could just put the HD on a non-banned console. and do it that way. or just say who cares about the updates, thats what you get for getting banned.

Yes, this is what I was asking. It wasn't answered previously thus why I asked.
The reason I am asking is if I was banned from live and there was some update for like a game that fixed bugs like the forthcoming NBA 2k10 patch, I only wanted to know if there would have been an alternative method to update this.
It's overall not a big deal but I just wanted to be informed about it.

So back to bludds first ? about streaming
I was just banned and want to know for sure that there is no way to stream anymore. I always got the need to connect to live to play video message and every time I did it would just play the media not update anything. Obviously I cant connect to LIVE now. I do have the 5mb "Optional Media Update" from Aug '09 installed on my console. I can still connect to Media Center but we all know that thing is useless for streaming video. I have tried using a flash drive but that didnt work so obviously it is a missing codec issue. So is there anyway to get the update that is provided on xbox live to stream or even to just play avi or mp4 files now that my console is banned. I know about TVesiyy but that thing sucks, slows down my pc and never seemed to play back properly on the 360.

I believe we found a new issue with the banned consoles as I'm unable to stream on mine and I just got a hold of a friend's who was just banned and it's unable to stream also. I even went as far as making a new profile and downloading the media patch to a memory card and putting it on the banned machines which still say you need to get the patch. Oh MS, how tricky you are.

I can still use the supported formats from the "Optional Media Update" from a flash drive or external hard drive although it's pretty finicky on the formats.
Which gamertag are you using to play the video files with? I had to use my online gamertag in order to play the vids as my offline one didn't allow me to do so.
Whatever you used before to stream videos from your pc to your 360 should still work.
From what I've read you can't get the "optional media update" anymore if you are banned so make sure it stays on your system.

I just got banned and now I can't install any of my games on the hard drive. I never really heard of this happening, did I just miss it or is this new?
This really sucks. :\ Now I have to play with that loud drive and probably destroy the laser with all these memorexs.

Now I heard for your problem (on unbanned consoles anyway), you simply need to delete the media update and redownload it to fix your issue. Thou, I'm starting to think that banned machines are screwed.

I don't see how Microsoft can stop us using HDDs on a banned console. Surely thats a breach of our consumer rights?
We bought the Xbox, although we have sacrificed the Live capabilities, which is understandable as we agree to their terms every time we connect, but to change the terms for a point of sale purchase?
Have they got the right to enforce this?
