PSP turns off randomly, Help!!

hi, my friend's PSP IS constantly turning off by itself with the occasional turn on. My Questions:
1) why does this happen?
2) is there a way to fix it?
He has 5.00M33-6 firmware and
his PSP is an original 1001 model.
it won't stay on longer than 30 minutes. please help.

I just upgraded his PSP to 5.50 Gen b, it still turns off and on. When I switch it to hold, it's as if this problem doesn't exist. someone please help me out. It's a really annoying problem

if i was u id make a pandora batt and mms and downgrade straight 2 the bottom (1.50) then go back up its easy the upgrade link is in my sig and if u need a guide 4making mms ill help

fixed the problem, I pulled of the face plate to clean it, put it back on, BAM! gone instantly.
