I know it was broke in first place but before update i could get on the game but now i cnt get on the game as i said. I understand this is late, but it could very well be that your laser is starting to die. How old is the PS3 that you bought?

If it's reading some games sometimes and some games other times, then my guess would definitely be that the laser is getting old. How often was your PS3 used? And for what?

Yup...laser. It is a relativly cheap and easy fix if you do it yourself. Sony will charge you $150 plus two-way shipping to do the same. Also, many games are available in a downloadable form...these do not need the bluray drive at all.

Better late than never so thanks. Not too bothered as already got a working ps3 just bought this ps3 off a m8 for £10. I thought if i can fix it I can sell it and make a bit of cash but just going to by an external HDD case and use the ps3 60gb one in it. Its a nice cheap way of getting an external HDD.

If you got it for that cheap, then you might use it as a dedicated media center...a couple of nice big external drives and an install of linux makes for a nice unit. You can even use a USB TV tuner so it doubles as an analog DVR.
