Well there are several posts on here explaining what the e74 is, one i actually posted about a year ago. the reason the x-clamp didn't fix it is b/c its not a gpu or cpu issue. you could try the penny fix on the ana/hana.

I just got done reading all the posts on e74 I could find, and I'm not too enlightened. Here's what I got, it's the ANA/HANA chip, I need to do a X clamp or reflow.

My 360 is just over 2 years old, I've never had a single problem with my 360, and it's been through some stuff. I modded it a few weeks ago and I still haven't had a single problem, everything works great. Today, I turn it on and I get a screen with the e74 code. Where do I go from here?

Tyler I ran into this same problem and fixed it. Go buy a heat gun, that is one of the best methods you can go about fixing your problem. heat up both sides of the mother board 4 minutes each let it cool off then apply the x-clamp fix. Just doing the x-clamp alone will not fix the problem. I had some systems go bad within one day of doing just the x-clamp fix.

I believe the e74 is covered my M$'s 3 year warranty. Go that route, its more of a perm fix.

as far as i can tell,,,then i could be wrong,,the E74 error started showing up on the older xboxs ever since the new dashboard can in,,and on the new ones to,,thats why microsoft extended the warranty for 3 years,,so if you get it send it back,,they will replace it or fix it,,cheers

I can't send it back in, my warranty sticker is removed. I didn't even realize there was an extended 3 year warranty when I modded it a few weeks ago.

So I guess I'm looking more towards the do it yourself aspect.
