Ps3 Media Sharing Ever Completely Stable?

Maybe its just the way i have my connection set up in my house, but my media share never works right for longer than a couple of hours, there is always some type of error. Am I alone?

Is both the connection from the ps3 and the PC to the router wired?

I have 2 different media servers on my computer and my PS3 connects to my network wireless...what type of media server are you using?
I use Nero, or the Java PS3 Media Server. The Nero Media Sever works well, but it takes a while to actually start my playback...(I don't know if that is because I have many shared sources or what)...the Java Media Server is far more responsive, however I have noticed that if I start an .AVI file it may play back the video but not the audio. The cool thing however about the Java Media Server is that is has an additional folder for a trans coded version of the same file, (it normally gives 2 options). I believe that Nero does this on the fly so that makes Nero slightly more appealing if you can deal with the initial delay at start up.
Are you or someone else also accessing the net or other areas of the network while streaming/playing back Media content?
This could be your problem...

No the ps3 is wireless

This could be your problem...
I use the standard windows media player sharing, i downloaded tversity, but that didnt work to well

Ps3 media server, and at least a 100 megabit lan. Also what type of file seems to cause the most grief? HD mkv files need a powerful computer and network to transcode on the fly properly. Dont use wirless for streaming unless you are using wireless N, but the PS3 doesnt support N so you would also have to get a N gaming adapter. Help me to help you. List the media server of choice, network type, and PC specs.

Your Wireless router is a B xmitting at 24M? If so, I would upgrade to a B & G xmitting G at 54M. Something like a Linksys WRT54GS. Think they are around $50.
Not sure if this could be your problem. At times when someone on my network would start up a PC, PS3, PSP, DS or what ever; it would kick someone else off of the Network. (It would take someone else?s IP address) I set the PS3 and PC?s up with a Static IP address and no longer have the problem.

I hate to say it but I am almost certain this is your problem. Sure there may be a way around this, (more RAM, faster processor, & better connection speed...), however all of these options cost $$$$. You say you are using a 2Wire Router, I assume your connection is DSL? What is your connection speed? This is a major factor when it comes to sharing a network with multiple access devices. It may be inconvenient for some but for your best results while streaming, (based on what I gather are your set up conditions), you will either have to be stingy with how access is granted around you, or upgrade your speed/bandwidth (CPU & ISP Based).
