Xbox won't boot after flashing Hitachi 79

Ok so i attempted to flash my Xbox360 hitachi i used the guide below

I went through the steps and didn't have a problem once in b mode my computer could see the hitachi drive and i finished the steps in the guide.

Once i had finished i put my xbox back together and booted it up however i got no video or sound.

I then opened the box up and disconnected the sata cable from the dvd drive and my xbox booted up normally without a hitch except it couldn't read the dvd drive.

Something has gone wrong with the flash i read something about puting a real game into the drive during the flash but it wasn't mentioned in the tutorial above anyone with similar problems and/or a solution could you please help me.

Does sound like a bad flash, try and redo this with the guide in the ultimate sticky (I know its old but it works, just make sure you use 1.51 instead of the one mentioned).

Hi miketrev,

Thank you for replying

Just a few questions

1) I'm using on board sata so i assume i jump to step 7

2) Is opa v2.3 the only software i need to flash the drive you mentioned 1.51 (might be stupid but i don't know what you mean)

3)I have a v79 hitachi drive i know they were are problem when they came out will the new software flash fine onto that version of drive.

This might actually be the cause of your problem, hitachi's are aqward enought. I always use the Via6431a card

The guide I meant does not have a step 7 Link

Or you can always follow the jungle flasher tutorial included with jungleflasher

opa v2.3 is not used in either guide. iExteme 1.51 is the firmware you will be loading on to your drive

You will need a unlock CD but other than that your good to go!

I will try the one you suggested with on board sata if it doesn't work i will invest in the sata card you suggested.

Ok so i tried to run a fresh flash on the dvd drive but my computer froze i then tried to run a restore to the original firmware and the computer froze again anything i try to do to the drive results in my computer freezing any help would be appriciated.

I would suggest getting the card and see if that solves the problem. But thats just me.
