Okay so my Box Red ringed. I know your probably thinking, ugh another noob that is going to ask how to fix the RROD. No, i know how to do that, however this is a little more complicated. I took my Box to a guy i know well to do the X-clamp fix, because of my laziness i did not want to do it myself. Well, i forgot to tell him that i did not do a temporary fix such as the towel rap or whatever else like i was supposed to, and he did the X-clamp fix WHILE the box was Red Ringed. So, whats the problem? Well, after doing that, he cut it on and it was red ringed, of course, but he didn't know, because i didn't tell him. So now, i am in a pickle. How in the world can you do a temporary fix on a xbox that has already had a fresh install of a xclamp fix? Is it even possible? I know there has to be someway to do it. It's something so small, but yet it is so irritating. Has anybody else done this? I know somebody had to have made the same mistake as i did. Lol. I found a strange fix along time ago with another box, but i don't know if it will work. Heres the vid.
What do i think? I think you don't know what you're talking about.
First the "temporary fix" you're talking about can damage the components of the xbox so it won't work till they are replaced. The towel trick traps way to much heat in the xbox and it's just a retarded way to "fix" an xbox.
Secondly if you had the xclamps replaced with screws you only need 1 more step which includes overheating the gpu.
If you have error 0102 (4142 if you can't comprehend the instructions) or have freezing issues, then you want to apply some pressure to the 4 ram chips on the bottom of the board. Simply get some pieces of hard rubber like from a hose, make sure it's 2.5mm to 3mm thick and trap them between the ram and the metal case. That's all you have to do.
You might want to double check to see if your friend cleaned the processors and heatsinks and reapplied new thermal paste.
There is no reason to do a temporary fix, in fact the x-clamp fix in my opinion is a temporary fix itself anyway. I know what you mean though, I used to think you had to overheat the console to "reset it" after any fix. Thats not true though and as the poster above said, the towel trick will damage the console, not fix.
