I bought a Eurovox SL1000 the other day and tried setting it up after a friend installed the firmware, I have splitter, One of the cables connects to my Virgin broadband internet (which is fine) and the other into the back of my Eurovox.
I set it up last night and could only recieve a few channels. BBC channels, ITV channels, Channel 4, E4 and some other crappy ones. I am not subscribed to any TV deal, I only currently have Freeview. As I select a channel for example Sky Sports 1, It says 'Please Wait, Code Being Updated'. It states this for along long time. Ive had it for over and hour before I gave up, Sometimes it flashes up 'Bad or No Signal' then quickly goes back to 'Please Wait, Code Being Updated'. Can anyone please help me.

If you need any other information please ask.

Thank you in advance

sounds as tho either your emu is off or the firmware in the box needs to be updated,to check emu is on press menu/language/type 1968 you will see emm type 1968 again.if the emu is on and still only a few channels the firmware needs updating(there have been a few threads from people on vigin the last day or two with problems, you should read them as you may find some more info)you can check the firmware available for eurovox by clicking the link in my signature.

a number of areas are effected by an outage in the UK, a lot of peeps reporting missing chans or lost chans etc, they will come back or may require a re-scan

Just tried the Emu part but all looks fine, It says enabled.

I asked the kid who installed firmware (yesterday) and he said it was the latest.

Just to check I did everything write, Just put the box in with all cables in correct place, then fast install and thats it? Is there any kind of code i need to type in or other options i need to do. Please. This is driving me crazy! I just wanna watch TV!! Thanks

Im having the same problem. I also have a eurovox 1000sl, which i have had for a few months with no problems at all. But over the last few days a few channels became very jumpy and pixelated (espn mainly).

But today i turned it on and i keep getting the "Please wait..code being updated" message.

I think maybe a new firmware is required? How can i check if i have the latest one??

From reading other forums it sounds like the firmware needs updating. I believe the most up to date version was released in Feb 2009. Maybe a new version is now required, just hope it doesnt take too long to be released

Ive got it sorted at last!!!

As i am a newbie and i found it hard to work out what the problem was i will expplain how i solved it.

1 Apparently VM have changed the codes over the past few days, causing evryone who was not watching a premium channel at that time to lose signal, and therefore getting the message updating codes.

2 If you leave it on SKIsports1 for up to 24hrs the codes should update eventually. But if you havent got the patience like me choose step 3

3 go to bigmaq . net and install the chatterbox toolbar
once installed you will see a key symbool located on the toolbar. select your provider and install the key

4 I found quite a helpful video on utube (Manual Key Input for the Eurovox.wmv) on how to install keys on a eurovox http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVE0LenIjiY

5 VM may change the codes again so we can either keep doing it manually or wait for a new firmware to be released to enable it to to it automatically.

I hope this helps someone, remember i am a newbie so no guarentees..

Thanks for all your help. My mate also confirmed codes were changed again. If anyone did have the same as my original problem, Me and my mate went through and manually installed the code, worked fine.
