I have been reading the forums the first 20 pages or so, and I havent found a concrete answer so I figure I will try and ask to see if someone with more knowledge than me could help.

I have a hard modded wii with D2Pro9, there are a couple games such as Deca Sports 2, Wii Sports Resort, Family Feud 2010 etc... that when I insert ask for software updates from the disc.

1. Is it ok to do the update if these are a backup disk from the correct region?

2. Is it ok to download the Wii software update 4.2 from wii connect?

I do not use homebrew or anything I just like to play some backed up games.

Thanks in advance guys, this forum has answered alot of my questions in the past, I hope my this wont be my first any only post, lots to learn!

As long as you have a modchip you shouldn´t have to worry since the 4.2 update just screws with the softmods (HBC, USB-loaders and so on).

Also the games you got will probalby just contain the 3.4 update. Don´t think any game atm has even the 4.1 update.

same question here, tough would be nice if you could "see" what firmware is added to the ISO. With WIU I can only see there is an update, but not wich one...

From what I found out you can update your Wii from any game as long as its in your Region, like USA NTSC format. I updated with a new game and now all the other ones work. It did not brick my wii!

That I know, but that was not the question. I would like to know if there is a tool that can identifie the version of the upgrade in the ISO. So far I have an 3.4E. My Sims Agents didn't work without the update (removed with WIU 1.1) So I used an ISO with the update. This went well, but I still have a version 3.4E. So the upgrade was for something else then the firmware. Or a lower then 3.4E with other stuff in it needed for game to work.

So I could say: "WII My Sims Agents PAL =< 3.4E" maybe a list like this would help people out. That way it is easyer to choose an update.

Ik know ther is a list (Taleves) but by far compleet..
