I don't know if I am in the right section but any help would be very appreciated! I am using the following programs convertxtodvd and subtitle workshop and HJsplit. I was trying to burn a movie and I was using subtitle workshop to combine the srt files. A few dvds came out great, the srt file was in sync and I had no problems. But all of a sudden I just burned a dvd and the subtitle has been overlapping from different parts of the movie. I have tried a few ideas from people but no success. But any help would be great! thanks

Do the combined .srt files reflect the running times of the movie (does the second part .srt file show timing that is subsequent to the first part) - what suggestions were tried to correct the problem.

yeah probably...I think it's because I started using the combined .srt files because only the ones that had 2 parts or more didn't work. The other movies I burned that worked only came with a one part srt file. This other person suggested I use a different program for the combining the srt files it's called subresync....and someone else suggested I get a newer version of convertx both didn't help.

and also yeah I checked the timings they are in sync because when I play the movie on the computer with the combined srt file it works but when I burn it it doesn't work.

If it was a 25fps AVI file with 25fps subtitles and the output is an NTSC movie (29.97 fps) then the subtitles would also change time.

Subtitle Workshop can open and convert 25 => 29.97 and save as SubRip (.srt) format - you could use that file to test.

Thank you very much for your help and I apologize I don't quite understand your suggestion I'm pretty new to all the codes and codecs and such with these programs and is there a way you could explain what I can go under exactly to change those settings? or what I can do to change this problem?

You can try this to see if it helps.
Create a new subtitle file to use with ConVertX.
It assumes that your original subtitle script is set for 25 frames per second .
If you are creating an NTSC DVD, it runs at 29.97 FPS - and the subs will have the wrong times.

Run Subtitle Workshop (the link was in an earlier post).
File > Load subtitle (select your .srt file or a copy of it)
On the left of the screen set the lower, FPS: box to 29.97 (all the times for the subtitles will be seen to change)don't touch the Mode: or Input FPS: boxes
Then, 'File' > 'Save as' and select 'SubRip'

Ok I got that part down now if I have a 3 part .srt file should I do what you suggested for each file seperately? the join them? because I usually go under tools and join subtitle to make one file and there is a selection to change from 25 to 29,97 there. I didn't know if there was a difference there.

You would join the subtitles as you indicated previously - when you were doing it successfully.

The changing of the FPS was for this one case only to test whether the subs were timed correctly.
