im trying to find a guy on craigslist that will flash my drive, because im impatient and want it down very soon, otherwise id mail it to someone.
but anyways my question
the only way to pull the key from the drive is to use a probe right?
he sent me this
"You don't need it, I use a firmware updater that will pull the key off the drive, flash with the new firmware, and then re-write the key back to the drive. no need for any extra hardware, probes, or key extractors. I connect your xbox 360 to my PC through the DVD drive to do the transfer."
so im guessing he doesnt know what hes talking about?

is it a liteon v1 or v2 ? if it is a v2 no probe needed. V1 still need a the probe . hope this helps

To answer your original question - No, he doesn't know what he is talking about, you can't just plug the drive into the computer and load up JF. He has probably only encountered the other types of liteons and thinks he is impervious to the annoyance of liteon flashing. He's in for a unpleasant surprise when he tell a guy that he'll be about to flash his drive in 30 min for $25 and realizes that he needs to drop $70 to get the equipment.
