I have 2 avi files that I am trying to encode to mpeg1. they are two halfs of one film each 700mb. They are xvid with ac3 audio so I ripped a wav of the audio in virtual dub and used that as the audio source. TMPGenc refuses to even start when I start encoding, no errors are given it just go to not responding when i tr to close it down. What is the problem with it and what can i do to fix it?

Has TMPG ever worked for you before?

Two possible problems.

1) System clash. Something's up with your set-up.

2) Your video file is corrupted (which may happen to be at the beginning) and TMPG doesn't like it.

hi 888
xvid's in TMPGEnc,are kinda fussy, try this:Go to Options>Environmental Setting and click on the VFAPI Plugin tab, then right click "Directshow Multimedia File Reader" and raise the priority to 2. Try opening your Xvid again.

Im not sure this will do it but its a simple little tweak, and worth a shot.

the most sucessful fix for this problem has been to decompress the audio in the AVI file before encoding. You can do this with VirtualDub.

1. Click Video - Direct Stream Copy.
2. Click Audio - Full Processing Mode.
3. Click Audio - Compression. Select <No compression (PCM)> and click ok!
4. Click File - Save AVI and try it with TMPGEnc.

If this doesnt fix it then your file must be bad.
