I have been copying DVD-9 to DVD-R's with "AnyDVD 3.6 + Intervideo DVD copy 2" under WinXP Pro without any problem . Out of the blue, it gave me 4 coasters in a row !! The transcode phase was O.K . The problem started when it was at about 86% to 90% completion in the writing-to-target-device phase . At this point, the writing speed went down to a snail pace ( i.e. about 50 KB per second !! ). Eventually , I had to abort the operation as it did not complete after 6 hours in one case !
It is interesting to note that I can still copy O.k. with a DVD+RW ! I copied about 12 DVD-R's successfully without any problem . There is no change in the DVD-R brandname. I wonder if anyone experiencing the same problem ? Please advise . Thanks,
I am using a brandname called "princo" , 4X . The puzzling thing is I have copied at least 12 DVDs without problem with this "pronco" brand before the issue appeared . Could it be due to some softwares I installed ? I am thinking of deleting all DVD drivers and reinstalling the software. Please comment and suggest some solution. Thanks.
Try saving the files to your hard-drive first and then burn using Nero. Never use the built-in burning software that comes with these type of apps myself, so try Nero instead.
Apparently, "Intervideo DVD Copy 2" has no option to save the ripped files ( please confirm . At least, I could not find this option yet . ) . It came with its own burning program, I think .
I did use DVD Shrink to rip the DVD then use Nero to burn it. It worked so far . But I believe in case of compression, "Intervideo DVD Copy 2" did a much better job, quanlity-wise .
On the otherhand, after spending 80 $ on "Intervideo DVD Copy 2" , I really want to maximize its usage. So I like to figure out why I got these problems after doing O.K. in the previous 12 DVD copies. Other suggestions most welcome. Thanks,
Intervideo DVD Copy 2 has the ootion to save to your HD. There are 2 options, first one asks for location of DVD files to read from and second location to write to, default may be your DVD burner but to the right side there is an icon with a folder... click on it and it will let you select a new location!
Thanks for the tips! I stopped using "Intervideo DVD copy 2" for the moment until the issue would be resolved . For the meantime, I started to use "Pinnacle InstantCopy v8.0" . So far, I have already copied 3 DVDs successfully . As a result, the issue here is definitely not due to the DVD disk quality at all ! I would appreciate further suggestions to resolve the current problem.
_I tried to use Int. DVD Copy to transcode DVD-9 to a folder in the hard drive then burn to the DVD-R by Nero Ultra v6.3.1.6 . It worked great without any problem . The whole operation took about 45 minutes for a 8 gig movie. The same movie would take 90 minutes or more using Pinnacle InstantCopy v8.0.
_ If I copied the same DVD movie using Inter. DVD Copy 2 ( i.e. including trancoding and burning with Inter DVD Copy2 embedded recorder ) onto DVD-RW , everything was O.K. . The troubling issue in this case was that my system became very sluggish afterwards . It took 5 seconds to open any program that can be started immediately before !! The free RAM was still at 80% and CPU usage was only 10% . Besides, the hard drive was running full speed as if trying to fetch something . I had to restart the system to get back to normal operation again.
I wonder if anyone experiencing similar problems with Inter. DVD Copy 2 ?
