i think i have come up with a great idea for DLC achievements. instead of pretty much forcing people to purchase the DLC in order to get 100% completion in the game, they should 'unlock' (show in the list of achievements, not give you credit for them if you havent earned them yet) the DLC achievements once its been purchased. this way for those like me, who do not want to purchase the DLC crap, can still obtain 100% on games. or do like what COD did for their prestige achievements, make them worth 0 points, so those who do not want to partake in prestige can still obtain 1000/1000.
now before you all start saying, well stop being an achievement whore, i am not one. i just like having the games completely done and with MS forcing people to buy the DLC in order to complete the game is crap. a great example of this is madden 10. after i get done playing an online co-op game with my brother later, i will have the 1000/1000 for the main game itself, but EA/MS decided to do that stupid AFL pack that you have to buy in order to get the other 150 points to complete the game.
so i say to you MS, WTF??

I agree completely.
I have only one 100% game, and wished to have another 3. When a game is really really good i just want it to show in my 100% list.
On of the games I wanted to have at 100% were Resident Evil 5, and I was a single achievement away from it. And than they release a horrible multiplayer versus mode with 250 more points... And i even bought the microsoft points for buying it, but for some reason it´s just for gold members (wtf?), and its against my religion to use anything more than 48hour cards (that don´t grant you gold status for some reason)... So yeah... thats all broken.

i see this as a double edge sword.
on one hand your suggestion makes a great deal of sense.
on the other hand... you have people that do like the dlc and want achievements for it as it adds to the value of the dlc. this is the side i'm leaning towards.
a solution might be to make the dlc as it's 'own game' on your list. so you can have 1000/1000 in madden and the 0/150 for the dlc which is listed as another game.

oh im all for having achievements in the DLC. but what i dont like is that if i choose not to buy it, it shows that i have only achieved 24/29, when i have completely beat the game. thats why i said once you buy the DLC, your profile should change to 24/29. or just keep them worth 0 points, it still allows for achievements to be obtained, and you can still show them off, such as first prestige, and 10th prestige for COD.
but your own game idea would work just fine for me. call it madden afl, or COD zombies, or GTA: L&D or halo: i spend a lot of money on this crap. then those that like to be completionists can still be without spending extra money to do it.

I agree with wabash...
but with that said, I really could care less about achievement points.
Although it is nice when I get some.
Wabash dominates all with his post count and gamer points.

points i dont care to much about, i would rather just have the game complete. the points are nice though, but its only fun when im racing a friend to see who can tack on another 2k or something like that.

Haven't played 2010 yet, although I've been meaning too. But me beating ODST on Legendary with homesick has takes precedence, in addition to playing another round of fallout 3.

i enjoyed madden a lot. more than i figured i would. i have my normal franchise team, but for the completion of the game, i just put all the players i needed to on one team so i didnt have to play 8 games to get them. still undefeated with my legit colts team though.

They obviously make a lot of money from doing it that way, so doubt they'll ever change it.
I wish the DLC was cheaper. I refuse to buy DLC while its so dear, but really want a few Guitar Hero songs.
On a side note, wabashman, is Madden any good? They're showing NFL over here and i'm getting quite into it.
Is Madden any good for complete beginners.

madden would be good for complete beginners. mainly due to having several difficulty levels in which you could play at. also, the game can dumb down the plays. so instead of having 15 variations of the same play, you can set it to just have 4 or 5 run/pass plays and the normal special teams plays (punt, fieldgoal, fakes).
however, for a true beginner i think i wouldnt get madden 10, i would get madden 09 or 08, mainly because for the most part i feel they play about the same, and you could save some money in case you dont like it.

Thats cool man, I guess i just never cared about a gamerscore or achievements, but I agree as far as the unfairness aspect may relate to you. Also its a great ploy to get people to buy DLC lol, cant say they arent greedy.
