Buying Live Gold from outside US (and where there's no Live)

I just got my hands (finally) on a xbox live gold card.
But I leave in Brazil, and here there's no Live.
Soo what I want to know is, muss I do any "special" modification on my live account? I've heard I have to put a valid US adress on it before I insert the gold card code.
Sorry if it's a stupid question. But thanks for the help in advance ^^

Oh and if any moderator see this, I would like to change the thread's name to "Buying Live Gold from outside US" or "Buying Live Gold where there's no Live", so the name will be more obvious. Sorry my mistake.

it should work, just input a US address. however, i have read that is MS catches this, they will cancel your live. not ban you, just make you go back to silver.

haha. i think the guy that lives there is on live already. he seems like a gamer to me. probably Halo 3
