i'm wanting to have a headset with dual speakers for xbox live, for voice chat, not game sounds or anything. has anyone ever made one? if so could you help with wiring one up. i figured it involved using a store bought pc/gaming headset like this
cutting off the jack or maybe above the volume control and connecting it to this
 .
i'm hoping someone has done this so i wont feel like an idiot if i cant get it working after trying it on my own

any headset will work as long as the plug fits into the controller. occasionally i have to use the one for our home phone. im sure they make some that have speakers on both sides.

The PC headset is probably stereo, while the 360 headset is mono. So you'll probably have to bridge them together (Dual earpieces with mono sound).

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

well, i am happy to inform that i have completed the set up. and it was a success. i have made a dual xbox live headset, that is strictly voice, not game sound. and with it i have freedom to roam. the line is a bit over 8 ft.(who needs that much, lol)
i'm kinda pissed though, because i came about another method to do what i wanted without me snipping the ends off of my brand new headset, found here for anyone interested
Pc Headset to Xbox 360 Adapter, but i had already snipped off the ends when i found it. but i'm still happy, now all i need to do is buy some shrink wrap and black spray paint to tidy up the cable, which can wait
it has perfect sound and recording. and this way i can still keep my chat pad hooked up instead of using those adapters from ebay
here she is

and for all the links posted, thanks for those, i did indeed see them before, but they would have stopped me from utilizing my chat pad along with the headset, the jack/adapters that they use are for direct plugging to the controller

You didn't have to cut you new headset, you could have bought a female jack of the size of the dual headsets jack, then wired that to your 2.5mm jack. Like this:

(but without the volume control unit).

No you can't, but instead of putting the volume control unit you could have put the individual 2.5mm jack on the end.

yea you're definitely right about that though. like i said in the earlier post, i had found other solutions to my problem after i had already snipped off the ends. so i just continued with what i was doing.
