I just connected my monitor to my ps3 with an hdmi cord and I was wondering how would I connect speakers to it?

The only thing I have left in the back of my monitor is an audio dc output 12v/1a I can't get any of my other speakers to fit into this specific hole. Is there any cheap speakers that I can use?

What model is your monitor? Does the monitor have inbuilt speakers?
Does the monitor have a HDMI Port (same as the PS3), or a DVI Port (white block, see here)?
If it's the latter, you will have to connect your speakers using the component cables.

All I know is that it's a gateway 22" monitor and I don't think it has inbuilt speakers. It has an hdmi, vga, and dvi ports. So do I have to use the component cable? If I do can you show me a picture of it? Thanks/

Well you've got three options.

1.) Use the optical output and hook it upto a home theater system. (my current flavor of choise)
2.) Use the red and white composite cables and hook it upto a home theater system.
3.) Use the red and white composite cables in conjunctuion with a standard headphone jack adaptor and hook them up to a set of computer speakers or similar.

You can also get some computer speekers that are compatable with the optical audio plug...but these are typicaly rather expensive.
