Im not clued up on the hardware side of ripping, so any experts out there I need your help;
a) is the Pioneer DVR-111D 16X + DVD-RW Dual Layer a recommended burner?
b) The description says
"It is required to use a cable corresponding to U-ATA66 (80-wire conductor cable)"- What is this?
I have seen pictures of the back of the writer, it will fit my IDE PC. Is it not as simple as plugging it in or do I have to buy this 80 wire conductor cable?
the drive will work, but i hate them. i had one and it went to crap within a few months. and yes, it uses normal IDE cables. if you have sata ports available, i suggest getting a sata burner though. they are the same price, and should last longer, and the cables are smaller also.

thanks for the reply. I have a SATA burner, bought for me about 2 weeks ago- didnt fit in my IDE so spent £13 on a cable that is meant to make SATA drives compatible with IDE. It didnt work, had a friend working on it all day and couldnt get the PC to boot. So I am limited to IDE unfortunately. Thanks for the input though, so do you not think I should get that Pioneer burner, I have read on here that only Pioneer and Liteon are reliable, all others make a lot more failed burns. What do you use and is it succesful?

Just buy a SATA card, you can pick them up for around £10.
Also, if you get the Via 6421a card, you can use it in the future to flash your xbox drives!

Sorry thats what I meant, I bought a SATA card and couldnt get it to work, so Ive got that and a Samsung SATA writer collecting dust whilst I browse ebay for an IDE. Ive spent so much on hardware that I might as well have just bought a couple of full price retail games!
