I'm fairly new to this lark and any information would help me to be honest, my xbox was flashed by someone else , now the firmware is out of date and won't play any games around may release so needs upgrading (about when the game prototype came out)I've been through numerous guides but am unsure of which firmware to use or how to find out what it is currently.

Basically, you will dump your firmware to get your DVDkey/info and spoof that to the new firmware. With BenQ, Lite-ON, and Samsung, you can just overwrite existing firmware. With Hitachi, you must restore to stock and then flash iXtreme.
yea it has. you will more than likely have to get yourself the via 6421 PCI card. once you get that, just dump the FW, and put ixtreme 1.6 on it. follow leerages updating a flashed benq tutorial that is more than likely in his sig (provided there was enough space there for it). if its not, just follow the jungleflasher guide for updating it.
