So according to my Jungleflasher log everything worked fine but the the 360 still doesn't want to play backups. It still plays originals fine though. I have the log here to post but everything seems to have gone a-ok. Used modeB, dumped flash, said the OG firmware was stock. Went on to flash with the RAM method I believe and every sector did fine.

Anyone know what's up? I updated a 79 Hitachi drive before but this one doesn't seem to work.

Bye! :)

Open tray error?

If so, if you aren't already using Verbatims, try those. If you are, you will need to do a POT Calibration on the laser. This will increase the laser strength to read through the dye of the backup. Hitachi 47s and 59s are notorious for this problem.

Actually yes, I do have the screen saying that after a long ''reading''.

Have only tried playing those pink Arita discs. Will try a verbatim. How do I do a POT Calibration on the laser? The 360 was dirty as HELL btw. It had so much dust in there. Especially the insides of the drive. I was thinking the laser was probably weak but before switching drives I might try this calibration thingy.

Bye! :)

Try cleaning the inside good and also cleaning the laser with alcohol and a q-tip/cotton bud. Increasing the laser strength is pretty easy to do. All you need is a multimeter that measures 20k ohms. Just google search "XBOX 360 POT Calibration", the tutorial is by Moda. But I would definitely try cleaning first, then Verbs, and POT calibration as a last resort.

yea they are right, the hitachis are known for this problem, some sammy's do it too, i guess because they use the same laser. i've had two hitachis, a 46 and 59, that after flashing, wouldnt read backups. i didnt want to buy verbatims so i did the pot tweaks, and they work fine. dont set the pot below 3, or you really run the risk of burning out the laser.
