I am wondering if I can use a wireless router configured as an access point to connect to Xbox Live? I have read answers both ways online, and I need a concrete answer.

If your router is DD-WRT compatible, you can flash DD-WRT firmware to it and there is an option in the GUI to allow you to do this. Visit http://www.dd-wrt.com
