Hiya =)

Thanks to some awesome guides here I learned how to burn games here. It took me a night with much candy and h4xxing to dismantle my box and load my hitachi 47 with ixtreme 1.51 but I made it =)

I acquired a few games, NFS: Shift and Fable 2 to start with. I wanted Fable the most, but NFS was the game I got first =) I used agbx360 to check and fix the iso, and burned it in IMGBurn. Everything went fine, and it even loaded and played flawlessly in my Xbox, went through some insane racing =)

However, when I did the exact same procedure for Fable 2 (I use Verbatime made in Singapore DVD+R DL discs btw)the Xbox tells me that the disc is unreadable and that I need to wipe it off. I try to launch the machine with the disc in it from the beginning, but no change. My originals and NFS: Shift works at the first time, every time so it doesn't feel like it would be a bad laser lense. I've tried two separate versions of Fable, both a standard PAL release and the GOTY (game of the year) edition, but no luck =/

You folks have any idea what it might be? Can also mention that i tried to start the game in both offline and online mode, I heard there might've been some patch to release but the Xbox doesn't recognize it anyhow.

What type of Dual Layer discs are you using?

Ahh, my bad. Well if you are already using Verbatims, you probably need to do a POT Calibration on the laser. Hitachi 47s are notorious for this. I know it seems weird because it can already read one backup, but trust me, I've had this exact same problem. The laser is struggling to read through the dye of the backup and by doing a POT calibration, it will increase the laser strength.

I had this happen to me on a couple of Hitachi 47s where they would only read certain games. I did the POT calibration and fixed the issue. You can google "XBOX 360 POT Calibration" and the tutorial is by Moda.

Hmm crap I have to break the case open again xD

I also thought that since you have to open the DVD-casing, isn't it a bit better to just swap the laser with a brand new one? Moda, the author of the guide, for example couldn't play a certain kind of disc brand no matter how much he increased the laser strength. He swapped the laser, and it was a success. Since my box has a couple of years in the luggage (It was made at the launch of xbox360) I might as well buy a laser and switch it.

If I go for a laser that fits the Hitachi GDR-3120L, it will do allright in my 47? Don't remember the letter after 47 but it wont matter, right? =)

LOL - When i started this thread I was desperate enough to make a third attempt on burning (wasting, I thought, another Verbatim DVD) the game.

I tried it now, aaaand... It worked xD Installing to HDD right now, I just wonder how likely it is that a dvd like this that worked on the first try also will work 100% in the future. Guess time will tell =)

I already made an order on a laser from Honk Kong though, but it was only 5£. No big deal, can have it and put it in if I experience problems in the future =)
