Update Hitachi drive or use T/S???

My old 360 motherboad with a working modded T\S drive crashed(I have the original firmware saved). I purchased a used console with a modded Hitachi drive. It will not play my backed up wave 3 games. I do not have the key for the Hitachi. I have read that I can dump the firmware and get the key from the existing modded firmware and update the firmware. I'm not sure the 3rd wave games are working... I have also read I can use the key to replace the drive with the T/S drive. What is the easiest way to get my 3rd wave backups working?

just flash one or both of the consoles with ixtreme 1.51.

Have you updated it to 1.51? If so, I'd probably try a POT calibration on the Hitachi.

I'm not sure what firmware is on the hitachi. I have to assume it's not 1.51 because the 3rd wave games don't work. I have never flashed a Hitachi. I have read alot of forums but I am not sure what software works best. I use the Samtool method on the T/S. What would you use?
