What we are dealing with - X360 Hitachi 0079FK drive wishing to be flashed.

Drive is plugged into VIA motherboard via a perfectly good SATA cable. I've spent hours and hours stuck at trying to send it into Mode-B.

1) I tried a Slax CD, nothing happens.
2) Jungleflasher, can't detect the drive.

I've been following tutorials and reading forum threads brought up on google so as you can imagine I've tried many a variation on these two - Using Maximus' Reader, disabling RAID etc etc.

Guide me.

You are putting the Slax CD in your PC's CD/DVD drive and booting to it right?

Yes. I also forgot to add that all of this has been tried on two separate computers with no luck on either.

Slax should start up and go through a bunch of stuff and then stop on "Spinning up disk........" and you hit the eject button at that point? You haven't got anything like that?

My Slax basically goes through a ton of stuff and then reaches the login screen. At no point does it show "Spinning up disk...". From what I remember the version I am using is 2.1 from Xbins.

Maybe try the Hitachi on a different SATA port. How are you powering the drive?

By the way, when the Slax is at the login screen it says it is a Frodo 5 version. Is that normal?

Dont worry about that.

I have found a couple of times withe SLAX that if you open and close your drive at a few random intervals whilst its loading, it sometimes works!

Also, you may not have a compatible motherboard. May be worth you whist getting the VIA 6421A SATA Card!

Also, whats sexy about this?
