Hi Guys

Ive recently just been tasked with modding a Wii for someone. I dont have any experience with Wiis but ive flashed a number of Xboxs. Ive been looking at the Drive Key modchip as a simple soloution, what do you guys think of this and also can the backup games been played online with this chip like ixtreme on th exbox?

Umm... just softmod it. Much easier than soldering and crap.

How about the bannerbomb softmod? is it easy enough to play backups on that?

Drivekey doesn't require any soldering.

Softmodding is fairly simple, but it is something that you have to keep up with. Every time a new firmware comes out you'll probably have to reinstall some of the cIOS patches.

With a modchip you dont have to worry about firmwares so long as you only play games from your wii's home region, but you do have to buy the chip and open the console up.

So it's your choice which you want to do. Both of them let you play nearly all games and online play works fine as well.

Thanks penguin, Ill just go with the modchip as its for a young teenager with no clue about his kind of stuff and I dont want to be constantly having to upgrade the software all the time.
