Hi from the forum i learned how to copy a rented DVD to a DVD-R using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shink. Now that I have made a copy of the movie i rent and I want to make another copy from the copy. Can anyone teach me how? I tried to follow the instrustion about if DVD not over 4.7G then use that way but after all the process is different on DVD Decrypter. I think is because it is different version. Can anyone help me out? Coz' for example the forum owner mention that I will have to find a file has .dvd at the end when i write the DVD-R but there is no such thing.

Somebody totally ignored reading the forum rules, didn't they?

Piracy is not condoned or supported here.

Oh I got it, if it is about the piracy problem because those were actually not english DVDs and has no copy right in Canada so there won't be a problem. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Alright man....all you have to do is use either DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter and reburn it but this time u don't need to compress it because you already compressed it
i like DVD Shrink better so step 1.....click "open disc"...(pick the drive the dvd is on) step 2.....click "backup" and ur done

Yes there is a problem. Copyrights do exist in Canada.

You've managed to multipost, post your e-mail addy and call three members "nags" in a very short time. You should take andmerr's advice and read the forum rules.
Looking at your other posts it seems you're more than happy to accept our help but if you want that to continue you might want to rethink your dismissive attitude towards the forum rules.

Nephilim no offence but if you know more about copyrights you will know that copyrights now only apply on Canada is also depends on the item. Copyrights law apply on anything that had actually already registor the copy right to Canada, like i said the movie i was talking about the whole time is not one of those, I know that because that movie company itself doesn't registor in Canada at all. That is because it is a chinese movie and china movie company which is not world wide copy righted. Anyway lets no argue in this topic anymore and close this forum or something is waste of time arguing, i rather spend the time on help out others, but still thanks for your advises. Advises always help out newbies like us.

cant really comment on this issue as i dont know canadian law........but i'd be interested to hear what the rental shop says if you ask them for advice on how to copy thier property.

i was under the impression that if a film is put on legal rental then it automatically comes under the protection of the country it is being rented in......maybe i am wrong about this.

life is like a shit sandwich.......the less bread you have.....the more shit you have to suffer!!!!

Lotta folks with what appear to be 'holier than thou' attitudes. Don't misunderstand me...I know and understand what MUST be said to keep things legal, etc. but this also is not my first rodeo. LOL. Just my two cents worth. BTW without this and other forums I would still be in the computer stone age. Thanks to all for unselfish time and effort.

I assume the following is true. You purchased a DVD. You backed it up using the info you learned from the forum. Now, your original was destroyed by the dog, kid, or some other destructive force. :-) Now, you would like to make a backup from your only copy. I am assuming that everyone who visits this site has also made backup copies of their personal music cd's at some point. Everyone knows that you can use the "disk copy" feature of your favorite burning software. You can do the same with copying a backup DVD. I like Nero Ultra 6 if you are using consumer software or pc-bundled software. Nero makes it very easy. You can even accomplish this faster if you have a DVD rom and a DVD burner with the disc to disc on the fly copy feature.

I would piss on it if I thought it would work.

Now THAT, without a doubt is about the largest pile of Horse Shit I have ever seen in a single place at any given time point in time !

You have GOT to tell those teachers in your school that you have a right to a minimal education at least. You should not be allowed to go into the world with that much "Stupid" hanging out.

You were stealing copyrighted material - that is a pure and simple fact. No matter how smart you thought your argument sounded when you were writing it - you were ripping off the DVD and you aren?t THAT stupid not to have known it ! (Checkout that last part, it was a compliment.)

There is no arguing, both Nephilim and Viper made statements and you have in devoured to refute their posts -
Take this as a friendly warning, take care with your words in the near future, you should remember, you have provoked 2 Senior Members into watching you. Your future is in your hands.

I hardily advise you to stick to just that -
(and BTW, those teachers I mentioned before ? You might ask them to teach you the difference between advise and advice.

I'm not trying to disturb everyone's turmoil...however ScubaPete, Emmami is correct about the copyright laws in canada....i am a 4th year university law student at Queens and in my 2nd year we learned all about piracy and copyrights....canada copyrights sometimes don't apply to international companies......hence "sometimes"...most international companies are protected under the copyright laws of canada...however emmami claims that the company that he is copying from is not protected....it is possible...but Scuba Pete you are right, it is highly unlikely...i doubt movies that are rented out are not protected by copyright laws....it's possible but like i said highly unlikely

so guys just watch what u say in the forums....it is no offence to u, i'm sure the senoir members don't hate you for posting illegal thoughts...they are just mad because these thoughts have the potential of shutting down the site....this site is amazing and everyone loves it...it helps everyone out...so i'm sure we all won't be too happy if the site is shut down because government officals believe this site is encouraging piracy because of some people's postings

as a 4th year law student and a visitor to some ones elses place (dRD'S) wouldnt you be a bit more respectful in how you post so as to not shut down this site.

heres a section of canadian law

27. (1) It is an infringement of copyright for any person to do, without the consent of the owner of the copyright, anything that by this Act only the owner of the copyright has the right to do.

Secondary infringement
(2) It is an infringement of copyright for any person to

(a) sell or rent out,

(b) distribute to such an extent as to affect prejudicially the owner of the copyright,

(c) by way of trade distribute, expose or offer for sale or rental, or exhibit in public,

(d) possess for the purpose of doing anything referred to in paragraphs (a) to (c), or

Obviously emmami's has the permission of the owners to do what he likes.

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry i couldnt put the whole document in , quite literally its totally boring but you can read it as well at

andmerr u r a f*ckin hipocrit...you tell persy to be more respectful but you disrespect him....i am also a canadian law student and i agree with persy....andmerr before you try to debate get the right facts...you showed evidence of copyright laws of canada involving canadian products....we are not argueing about a canadian dvd....it is an international dvd....so get your facts straight....secondly you got your laws from an unreliable source (the internet) don't beleive everything the internet says...it could be either wrong or outdated....in this case those laws are outdated....if you weren't so ignorant about this topic you would know that the supreme court of canada has just passed new bills in regards to copyright laws.....so andmerr i "advise" you to stop being such an "assh*le...or if u want to be one make sure you have the right info

To what point is all this arguing?

Regardless of all the lawbooks in the world, this site's rules are clear and not open to semantic debates.

The language and personal attacks need to cease before the banning begins.

just some advice :)

ok ladies, lets stop fighting like 3rd graders.

Pete - you never cease to amaze me, keep it up buddy.

anyone on this thread that is being disrespectful to the senior members - STOP IT!!!!!

if the rules need thrown out there, they will do it. thats why they made senior member, they are wise enough to be a valuable asset to this forum and they know the rules we must follow to keep this site alive. If a senior member has to remind you of the rules, just assume that you are doing something wrong. Dont argue, dont bitch, just be glad that we have them here to help you stay in line. The mods are not so quick to forgive.

Just because laws differ from country to country, it doesn't mean the rules of this site do not apply to you. This thread should have been closed from the first post.
