When looking at the drive, will it say 93850C on the sticker? Reason I ask is that when the drive was first spootted, some peeps where saying it was a new revison of the 83850C

It could be a possibility the second version of the 83850C has the new encryption/firmware of the 93450C but was labeled as the 83850C.

Well from trial and error, the consensus is that August 2009 83850C Lite-ONs (and on up) aren't giving up the DVDkey. The September 2009 drives should be the properly labeled 93450C drives.
It was a 83850C. The manufacter date on the back of the xbox was August 09 but on the drive it was June 09.
Weird thing was, it asked my to do the tray half open trick twice!, ie, open drive > shut drive off > half open tray > close and open drive > shut drive off > half open tray > close and open drive but it didnt work. So i followed your instructions then the second time it asked me to do it I just click yes twice (once for half ofen and once for open) and it dumped fine.
