Hey guys, I would like to know whether it possible for me too update the firmware on my x360 to play backup games...however, I do not want to open it and was wondering whether it`s possible over a network (E.G my home network), I have the firmware for my drive, just need to know whether it possible, if not can I softmod it via a flash drive (normal memory stick)?...

As far as i know there is no way to mod / softmod the xbox 360 without opening the casing. If there is then it will make updating the fw very boring lol as i love to dismantle things.......
get yourself a 360 tool kit off a well known online auction site and either follow the tutorials on here or over at llamas Adventures in xbox 360 and take it apart :) go on... be a devil.....

Sup toast...
here`s the thing I just recently bought the machine, so I don`t really want to open it, I am willing to take the risk to fuck up the software on the x360 though...HEHEHE...Which is what I do best, I got a friend that knows how to upgrade without opening via his P.C (I`ve seen it, just don't know how...), but he in Botswana and cant get a hold of the bugger...

I'm sorry to break the news to you, but there is simply no way to flash an Xbox 360 drive without opening the case. You need access to the DVD drive itself. It really is nitoriously easy to do and, as long as you read thoroughly and think about what it is you're doing, you'll be fine.
Google Jungle Flasher and read their tutorials.
Try searching, its fun.

thanks guy...I really don`t mind just curios, I read a few xbox1 tuts, and it was able to with the memory unit, using U.X.E, so I just just thought there might be an easier way of hooking it up on the x360...thanks

well your friend is BSing you because like said, it is not possible to do over the network.
It can only be done by opening the 360 up.

well If you read carefully I did say I was present at the time and witnessed it for myself...Why would I ask about it?...and I didn`t just think this up...and even if I did and somebody figured it out it would be brilliant...I tell you it`s possible maybe not over a network but by crossover connection (well virtually same difference...)

Once again, this is not possible. You can not upgrade the firmware of a DVD drive over a network or crossover cable. You have to take the console apart, connect the DVD drive to your PC via SATA, dump the info and flash iXtreme.

If it were really as easy as modding your xbox over a network, Afterdawn would not have countless and countless amounts of threads each titled, "Help with flashing".

If you have a look at the tutorial, it will explain how to idetify the drive you have and how to flash it with iXtreme firmware.
If you bought the Xbox recently, you will either have an older Lite on drive which will require a probe or spear, or a newer Lite on which can be flashed from SATA.
Try searching, its fun.

Just read the tutorials closely BEFORE you start doing anything, make sure you have the right software, components, etc and then REREAD the tutorial. I opened the tut on my laptop while I modded the first time.
If you're not willing to risk damaging the console, then modding is not for you, or check your local online classifieds for someone who offers the service.

First, "bra" is supposed to be "brah".. You just called him a piece of lingerie. Not cool broseph. He is plenty supportive.. and acts like a training bra. At the same time.
Two, these are not complicated questions. Look at the NEWBIES TUTORIALZ, any of the 30 on the forum will do. Leerages however are the least confusing. They are all basic questions you asked that have been asked many times before and covered in said tutorials.
