Hi I have just bought a Pioneer DVR-111D but my Windows updates cant find the software to install it. It didnt come with a driver cd. Does anyone know where I can find the software to make this work? On the Pioneer website it only has "firmware updates". I downloaded the most recent one "BDR203_FW110EU.zip". When I try to launch this is just says "Available target not found". I have also tried typing in google for a driver but have ended up downloading 2 files that are obviously malware. Anybody know a reliable website to find them?

correction- I downloaded the "DVR111D_FW129EU.EXE" Firmware Upgrade Ver. 1.29. This is the only DVR111D software available on the Pioneer website.

thanks for finding it for me- but I get the same error. I right click > open > Run > Then on the exraction box I click Install > Then a black DOS type window appears and says "Available target not found", along with an information box that also says "available target not found". What is the 'target' it is looking for? This is so frustrating!

I cant shut my PC down yet, is it worth checking the BIOS? I ask this as the PC is telling me I have new hardware recognised and if I want it to run another Windows update it will do but obviously cant find the software. Doesnt that mean it will be shown in the BIOS as windows has recognised it.

i might. but what happens if you let windows search online for the drive? it should be able to find it then, right?

Additionally now when I click into My Computer I have no dvd drives. Before I fitted the Pioneer My computer would show that I have 2 working dvd drives. I have removed the lower dvd drive (which was a plain ROM. The PC also used to boot from this drive). I still have a DVD-RW in which now isnt being detected by my computer. Does this mean anything? Im going to throw my PC if I cant sort this out, Ive wasted so much money trying to do this, might as well have just bought retail copies.

thanks, since my last post I shut the PC down, took the DVD-RW and the Pioneer DL out, then I put my old DVD-ROM back on the bottom slot and put the Pioneer in the upper slot. Turned it on and both are now working. No windows update or "new hardware found" messages, but just tested the pioneer by writing a CD-R. It worked so now I am going to try burning a backup. Im on Imgburn now, is the booktype setting important? As there is no Pioneer brand option.

Is the error that comes up a Windows error or a software error?

If it is a Windows error, sounds to me like you are having the file is some deep dark directory somewhere, and that is causing problems. Save the file in the C: drive itself, or a short-filename directory directory off of the C: drive such as C:\downloads and try again. Sometimes Windows has trouble navigating into c:\windows\temp\872387ahajb!\!absajdk\837hha\~123ab\filename.exe, for instance. This is especially true on a pre-Vista OS, and does sometimes happen on Vista as well.

I sorted it, for some reason the DVD ROM that was in this PC when I bought it needs to stay in for everything to work. Every time I take it out the PC goes nut nut and has withdrawal symptoms. I put it back in and replaced the DVD-RW. As soon as I switched it back on it worked fine. I have since burned my first ever game and it was surprisingly sucessful. Seems to work fine in my battered Xbox so the burner appears to be working 100%. Thanks for looking at my question though and I appreciate your help.
