Was getting ready to flash a benq but it freezes the pc as soon as i power it up. Drive has never been flashed. Any help is appreciated . I've flashed bout 50 xboxes and normally i just plug in the connectivity kit and run jungleflasher and things go smooth. I have the via 6421 using the port on the front, but as soon as i hook the benq drive up to the connectivity kit my pc freezes immediately. Can't do anything until i unplug it. I'm actually doing an x-clamp fix and since i didn't have all the parts i decided to go ahead and flash it first. Don't know if i should do anything until i figure this out. Thanks for any help.

No it's not the first benq but the first one to freeze my pc immediately. I have a spare sammy and i powered it up and everything was cool. When I power the benq up my whole pc freezes not just jungleflasher. Can't acess anything on my pc until i unplug it from the connectitvity kit. the drive is stock. It shouldn't be a bricked drive should it. Should i go into dosflash and extract the key from there. I've seen post saying to uninstall via drivers but i've never had to do it. Everthings worked fine or at least i was able to figure it out. thanks!

Boot up a known working SATA DVD drive and hot-swap it over to the BenQ in question after Windows boots up. Then flash as normal.

Went into dosflash and it's giving me an unkown flaschip while trying to dump the firmware. According to the person the drive has never been touched. Might be bricked. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried hot-swapping a working SATA DVD drive with the BenQ in question after Windows is already booted, as recommended?

Sorry. Yes I have a spare sammy and it powers up and jungleflasher recognizes it just fine. Soon as i power the benq windows completley freezes. I haven't been able to dump the drive or even get jungleflasher to recognize it before it freezes. If you get an unknown flashchip doesn't that mean its been erased. Don't know how this could've happened if the drive has never been flashed, but then again don't know if that's true. when i opened it the sticker looked good so i assumed it has never been tampered with.

I've had the issue of different drives freezing Windows before. However, these were fixed the the solution I recommended.

Perhaps you should try connecting the drive with the drive tray half open (open tray with power on, then close half way with power off) and tray it that way?

The only drive that generally bricks is a Hitachi. All other drives do not brick in the same way unless you connect the power connector upside down and fry the internals.

if the internals were fried then dosflash wouldn't pick anything up would it. don't think its fried. Keep getting unknown flashchip in dosflash. i fried my 1st kreon drive but when u power it you could smell it so i dont think this one is fried.

Took it apart. Your right it's fried. Don't think it was anything on my part. I'm real careful about how i plug the connectors. Might have been hit by lightning. Don't know.
