Anyone have a guide on how to flash Hitachi drive ver47? I have looked up guides but can't get it to work, i've successfully flashed Lite-Ons and Ben Qs but the Hitachi's seem confusing as hell. I'm using a VIA chipset and tryed the jungleflasher way via Port IO but it just fails on me. I have a Xblaster 360 Next Edition so I can easily throw it in mode b but I just can't get this done. Any help would be much appreciated.

Exactly what is not working about it? As long as it is in mode B it should go.

Try leaving the tray halfway open and trying again. You can do this by opening the tray, closing the tray, and removing power when it is half closed.

It's just failing everytime im trying to dump the firmware, I don't want to flash this until I have the orignal firmware. But wouldn't removing the power from the drive turn mode b off? I remove the power and put it back in and it just ejects back. I'll try some things but I think i'm going to avoid Hitachi flashing this is giving me one big headache.

Try using Jungle Flasher to put the drive into mode B instead. Are you able to get the key from the drive?

Definitely don't flash until you're sure how to do it. Hitachi drives are easily brickable.

Actually yea it just doesn't stay half open.. weird how I just did that trick with a Lite-On but this Hitachi just closes everytime I try to power it back on half-open. No luck

I followed the Junglefalsher Tutorial on how to Flash Hitachis, I can got Send Mode B and it will say Mode-B Done! like it should. It recognizes the drive through Port IO but when trying to Dump the firmware is fails and says "Ram Poke Failed" or "Classic Dump Failed" depending on which Method I pick. I know its in mode b because when I have the VIA chipset drivers I can get the drive to be recognized in windows. I'm hoping that the tutorial was right when It said to remove the drivers such like for the Lite-On's. I'm totally out of ideas now as I can't even get the drive to stay half-way open.

I had mine installed when I did my flash. Was able to pull the info fine. Bricked it when I wrote though. So I don't know what you want to do lol.

Sorry, I've never had that issue before. If I were you I would try using iPrep or some other Dos-based program on a flash drive to do the flash instead, and see if that works. You may want to try DosFlash32 in Windows before you try that, as well.

Yea I will have to, I had another Hitachi Drive same version that I thought I had bricked but after using the Xectuer Blaster 360 I got it in Mode B fine and flashed that one just fine. I think there may be something wrong with the other one I have then. It should be reading regular games fine but just doesn't want to be flashed.
