My system recently started having issues where the colors would mix badly together as if water was spilled on a painting after about 5 minutes of gameplay. Now it will not display video and also no audio that I can hear, yet there is no red rings at all. The LED boots normally. I've tried different cables and different TV's and think it has something to do with the system. Any ideas what this might be?

I had the same thing about 6 months ago. I saw it as the beginnings of a RROD, so I ordered an xclamps replacement kit. Replaced the xclamps and reflowed and it's now working perfectly, it gets medium to high levels of useage. Only downside is it's now a little bit louder than it was before, I could probably get rid of that by messing with the screw tightness but it's not worth the effort for me.

when mine did that i tried reflowing and the xclamps and none of them worked.it is sitting upstairs next to its replacement waiting if anyone canfix it.only difference is mine does rrod.
error 0031.

usually can be the cable's ie hdmi cable im told.

This is covered by MS's 3 year warranty. Register for a repair online.

Does it look opened? If not then they will fix it. If not they'll just send it back. I've had luck with systems without warranty seals that I bought off ebay.

Just tried the x-clamp fix. Doesn't seem to have worked and yes it definitely looks opened. Thanks for the advice though.

You mean the thing with the heat gun? No I haven't. Seems complicated and I don't have a heat gun.

you can just stick the fan on top of the cpu heatsink and just let the gpu overheat for about 10 min's that should reflow the solder and hopefully you'll be all set. search youtube for loads of vid tutorials.
