So I've been having a hell of a time trying to get my internet optimized for my PS3 Slim. I have a Motorola (Netopia) 3347-02 modem/router combo provided by Qwest. I'm attempting to connect my PS3 slim wirelessly and while I can connect the PS3 slim to the internet, I'm receiving a NAT 3 error and UPnP is said to be unavailable (despite having it turned on on the router), which has seriously hampered my online gaming experience. I called up Qwest and they transferred me to a Motorola tech. He guided me through setting up a DMZ (IP Passthrough on the Motorola) and when I attempted to connect to the internet on my PS3 I would instead get a DNS error. So we attempted a port forward solution and that didn't work either, I still continued to receive a NAT 3 connection. The only thing he could suggest was that perhaps my router was defective and I have since installed a replacement router (same make and model), however the NAT 3 problem continues to persist. I've looked online at different forums in regards to this modem/router and it seems like I'm not the only one who's had this trouble so I'm hoping that perhaps someone on AD might be aware of a solution I haven't tried or a possible explanation to my predicament.

The only thing I can hypothesize is that the router/modem isn't compatible somehow with the PS3, though I don't know why it wouldn't. It's frustrating because everything that should work, static IP, DMZ, port forwarding, hasn't, though I'm open to the possibility that I missed a step or combined steps incorrectly. Anyway, I would appreciate any advice or help. Thanks in advanced.

Reading other sites, seams that that router has a UPNP problem and the few that got it working did the Passthrough that you have already tried.

Right, I have read that discussion before. I've tried entering the PPOE data and haven't had any luck with it (I can't even connect to the internet at this point and get a DNS error). As for bridging the modem and using another router, I don't have a spare router to try it on at the moment so it's a bit of a last resort solution for me. I supposed I can try the IP Passthrough and PPOE again but I don't think I've missed anything.

I'm pretty frustrated with this modem/router. Reading that it has a flaky UPnP is distressing.
