I got a perfectly fine working Samsung MS28 drive but I have something strange going on when I try to flash it. I use a VIA Raid Chipset and I removed the drivers but STILL when I connect the drive with a SATA cable my computer freezes. Now I've actually successfully flashed Hitachi, BenQ, and LiteON's and I haven't had anything weird like this go on. I've tryed DosFlash using a floppy (Method I use for BenQ's) and it doesn't work either. Anyone else may know why my comp freezes everytime I turn the 360 on while its connected? I think I got extremely bad luck with these older Hitachi and Samsung drives.
If nothing then i've made up my mind to stay away from Samsungs and Hitachis as i've only gotten a headache and murderous rage out of them.
Are your viam drivers installed? If so, are they yellow on your hardware list or not. If yellow, I have no clue whats going on. If its not, you need to make it yellow by disabling the driver, going to your windows/system32 folder and deleting viamdrivers.dll or something like that, after that enable the driver and it should come up yellow, if it does, then restart and if its still yellow, then your good to go, if not, your drivers are reinstalling themselves and look around the forums on how to fix that. Hope this helps.
No it's yellow, I was making sure that they were un-installed properly and not re-installing themselves. It's a weird problem, kindof how I had 2 V46 Hitachi drives, one would flash fine in Jungleflasher and the other didn't and they both read discs. I've been having tons of fun with older drives and I plan to not mod any of my friends 360's now with older drives.
