Apologies for this newbie question, but I cant find an answer googling it. I have inserted Halo ODST and it the xbox tells me an update needs to be applied to play this game. Am I good to click update? I have done this before with Gears of War but after hearing all the commotion with wii updates I was wondering if the same applies to Xbox?

Any game after March 2009 would have updated you to NXE.

The only updates you need to worry about are dashboard updates. Game updates are fine to go ahead and do.

Well if you aren't concerned with live, you won't be concerned about being banned? ;)

Microsoft is putting updates on discs. So in the future, if you don't connect to live to get an update, you'll get it when you try to play a game that forces the update.

yes, my concern over the update wasnt to do with live, it was more to do with the Xbox being bricked like a wii can be.

Yeah done it everything is fine. Completed the game now. Shorter than I would have liked but better than I expected, lot of reviews I read gave it a kicking. I actually liked the lamented stealth night vision section- feel it punctuated the action scenes better rather than just bungling into set-piece after set-piece of explosions. Its also the only Halo campaign I have enjoyed on single player.
