I've read countless threads explaining how the activate.iso work around will allow Benq owners to play Wave 4 games, but has anybody actually succeeded at this? Because it doesn't look like this works for the BenQ's

Ok then, how did you do it? Because I'm not the only one who has this problem and it seems the activate.iso only works for Hitachis.

The activate ISO only works on BenQ, Lite-ON, and Samsung with iXtreme 1.6. There is no iXtreme 1.6 for Hitachis. Hitachis have iXtreme 1.51 which will play Wave 4 anyway. iXtreme 1.51 for BenQ, Lite-ON, and Samsung will NOT play Wave 4 and the activate ISO will do nothing because one shot boot mode is not in IX 1.51 firmware.
So what firmware are you using?

Hey thanks for the reply. I am using 1.6 and I followed a guide for burning and using activate.iso but no dice. I read that the activate disc won't work for BenQ, but who knows. So many people saying so many different things.

OK, here is my problem. Nobody can seem to agree on whether to burn it to one layer or both. Most guides seem to say one layer, which didn't work for me, but you say both. Which is it? I have been reluctant to burn again because these DL disc aren't cheap.

He's saying on one layer.
Burn activate.iso to a DL disc and change the settings so it will only burn to ONE layer.

He said "in both layers". I take that to mean both layers, not one.

I've read two guides and they both said burn onto both layers. That didn't work for me so i burnt onto one and it worked on both my Benq 1.6 and my liteon 1.6.

This is the guide I used and worked great for me
These instructions were made using Imgburn!!!
You can also use this tutorial to play Wave 4 games while on iXtreme 1.51
PLEASE NOTE!!! DOES NOT BOOT UNSTEALTHED XBOX 1 BACKUPS!!!! I was really hoping it would....
1: You need your Activate.iso file! You can download it using the link above.
2: Once you have the activate.iso file, you wanna drag and drop or save it to your desktop.
3: Insert a DVD+R DL into your dvd burner.
4: Now open up Activate.iso with any burning software you use. (I.E. Imgburn, Clonecd, etc... I personally use Imgburn... )
5: Now in your burning program go into your write setting tab and make sure your layerbreak is set to the Calculate Optimal setting. Also check your booktype for DVD+R DL and make sure its on the DVD-ROM setting and that your write speed is at 2.4x.
6: Start Burn!
7: As soon as the burn starts a message will pop saying, "that the image is small enough for a regular DVD R, do you want to continue anyway?"
(You wanna choose yes because burned to a regular DVDR the Activate.iso wont work!!!)
8: Next another message will pop saying, "even though the image is small enough to fit into one layer its best to write in both layers, do you wanna go away from the norm and write in only one layer?" (Now I wanna stress...READ THIS MESSAGE CAREFULLY!!!!)
Choosing "Yes" will cause all data to be writing into the first layer.
Choosing "No" will cause data to be writing into both layers.
Choose "yes"
9: It will burn then finish...
10: Insert the Activate.iso disk into your xbox 360. It will read for a little longer than usual then finally it will say "Play DVD". Press "A" on your controller and a video should pop saying, "Play this disk in an xbox 360 console".

(picture cortesy of RazzaBlade)
This is how you know you've burned the iso sucessfully!!
11: Now just eject the Activate.iso disk and insert your unstealthed, modified or Hybrid disk and it will load!!!
Thanks for listening!! I hope this helps some that were struggling like me... ;)

Thanks for the guide. The guide I originally used was the same except it said "Choose NO" on the last part. Ugh, so frustrating. Anyway, thanks again.

Okay I have read countless guides on how to burn the activate iso. I know I have burnt it right because of the "put in xbox message". Now the only wave 4 back up I have right now is tekken. I have 3 benq xboxes here and 2 Toshiba-sammies. The activate iso says play dvd and gives the error on all systems. But Tekken 6 will NOT BOOT on the benqs! It comes right up on the sammies! On the benqs I let activate.iso read til it says play dvd. Take out the activate iso then place tekken in. Sounds like its trying to load for a few seconds and says play dvd!

I have benq and 1.6.
I put the activateiso loader disc in and press play dvd and it comes up with the put a xbox 360 disc in the console.
So I eject the disc and put the game in and it says play dvd so I press it and then it just loads and goes to the xbox 360 screen and thats it.
I try and press play again and nothing happens just says on the white screen with the xbox 360 logo in the middle of it.
Am I doing something wrong?

I have done it both ways. In all 5 systems.
1.) Put in activate.iso wait for it to say play dvd. Eject and put in tekken...then it says play game and tekken comes up
2.)Put in activate.iso wait for it say play dvd. Hit A and it plays the error. Eject and put in tekken...the it says play game and tekken comes up.
Both ways work but only in my sammie equipped 360's.
Both ways will NOT WORK in my benq equipped 360's

Will have to try the 1st step to see if that works.
Step 2 does not work on my benq.
Are we coming to a conclusion benq does not work then?

Rather than pull your hair out about this, you may just want to wait until the release of 1.61. Not like there are tons of wave 4 games out there yet anyhow.
