I need info, from other peoples personal experience.
I will be moving from Hong Kong to South Africa.
Taking my ps3 with.
Will I have problems useing the psn network and purchasing full games games on disk?
1.) For the PSN, if I'm not mistaken, you'll have to create another User and another PSN account for the country you're in - in this case, South Africa. You can also access the Hong Kong PSN fine, too. The only thing with that is that download speeds might not be as good as you want them to be.
(I have a Europe and Japan account for access to those respective PSNs, even though I live in the US.)
2.) I don't believe PS3 games are region-coded, or if they are, only a few games implement them. So you should be able to buy any game and play it perfectly fine on any PS3 in any country.
Blu-Ray movies are region-coded, but not to the same super-strict standards as DVDs.
Games are region free. If you keep the credit card you use right now then you should still be able to buy stuff out of the Hong Kong PS Store. BluRay movies will have to be imported from the region you bought the PS3 from, but there are ways around that but not very cost effective.
I know some software from the PSN will check the location of your IP adress, and prevent use if you are not in a certain country. This is rather rare, but still very annoying.
thanks guys.
My life online with ps3 is all on the HK psn account.
Wish there was a way to change locantion on your profile.
Will still be keeping my current credit card so wont have to much of a problem downloading psn content, but its just going to cost a bundle more than what i am paying right now..South african internet is freaking wack. and costs p00 loads.
Right now im paying $100HK = $13US permonth for 100mbps unlimited downloads.
If there is any south africans around here , let me know whats the best ISP for me.
Its crazy, Im 30years old and my only concern about relocating to another country is, how im going to pay online with my ps3. LOL
