I have a Hanns-G 24.6" LCD display that I use for my TV (through an HTPC) and for my 360 display. When the HDMI is connected to the PC, the audio plays through my surround sound as I have HDMI sound disabled. The problem is that I want my 360 to play through my surround sound as well, but I still want HD quality.
So...................... Is there a way (like a simple cable solution) to take the component output of my 360 and turn it into an HDMI input for the monitor?
I found this but I'm not sure if it will work, as I know they are two different signals.
maybe i am stupid but i do not understand what you are asking you say it plays but then want to know how to play it thru the surround
my 1st question is does your pc have an optical port on the mobo if it does i would run a hdmi cable from the 360 to the pc then an optical cable from the pc to the surround sound receiver
also you can plug the hdmi cable and your original adapter with the optical out port on it at the same time and run the hdmi to the lcd and the optical to the surround sound if the adapter doesn't fit just take the plastic casing off the adapter so both will fit in the back of the xbox
Yeh SATTNINJA thats exactly what i do. I wanted HDMI but I also have a Turtle Beach X1. Simply plug the HDMI in take the plastic casing off the component and squeeze it in. It doesn't fully go in but it goes in enough to produce sound :)
no. the PC plays just fine. what i want is for sound from my 360 to come through surround. but, when connected to the monitor through hdmi, it obviously comes out of the monitor. here's what i would like:
there is NO HDMI INPUT on my htpc. so what you said WILL NOT WORK. also, no optical port, so that will not work either. i basically need to know how to change 360 component output to monitor hdmi input, with the stereo R/W RCA audio of component going to surround.
Edit: sorry, not all posts were read. how would i go about taking the casing off? just pry it off?
its old.. i honestly have no clue what it is. not anything real elaborate. cheapo walmart setup i bought a few years ago for the bedroom. if i connected the hdmi to the monitor and then took the casing off the component cable, would i be able to connect the audio of the component to the surround and get audio that way?
okay. just to be clear, cause i'm not too big on the gaming scene, just like to play...... we're talkin the cable with the TV-->HDTV switch, correct? how would i go about popping that casing off so that both could the connected?
