Hi,Basically i dont know if its my router or my ps3 but my ps3 doesnt seem to find my wireless anymore thought it used to but it finds other wireless's from around my area so it must be the router has anyone got any suggestions on what might be the problem btw my laptop doesnt pick up my wireless either please help thanks.
Sounds line your WIFI router is bad since you laptop and PS3 does not pick it up but your PS3 picks up other WIFI signals. I assume your laptop picks up other signals.
Also, where IS your router in relation to your PS3? It could be only ten feet away, but if it's surrounded by a ten-feet-thick wall, then you won't get any signal out of it.
There might be some signal crossing, too. Maybe too many things trying to access too many other things, and the router's getting confused with all the waves and junk flying around.
...look at me, talking as if I know how wireless internet works. Pshaw.
Can you pick it up on your laptop if you put your laptop right next to it?
Hi my laptop works fine cause it used 2 pick up another signal before that one got shut off also my ps3 is downstairs and my router is on the 3rd floor but i aint got no way of connecting the router thru a ethernet cable and how could i find out my ssid and would it help if i turned off the ssid broadcasting
I'm not saying your laptop is messed up; it just might be that your router is simply too far away from your laptop/PS3. By moving your laptop right next to your router, you'll be able to tell if the router's transmitting a wireless signal or not.
And placing your PS3 and router so far away from each other is definitely a bad idea, even if your router's not broken. Being four floors away from each other does bad things for the signal strength.
Try moving your PS3 closer to your router. (Or test it out with your laptop first, as I suggested before; it won't be as much of a hassle to move.)
Not too sure how to check your SSID, but you could try typing in your IP address in your internet browser's URL bar on a computer connected via ethernet cable.
To find your routers SSID, SubNetMask, etc.. On your PC Address bar, type http://192.168.1.1 That should get you inside your router. Thats the default IP for most routers. You can get all of your info from there.
Ok well i figured this bit of info could be of great help
i put my laptop in the same room of my router and it didnt pick it up and i remember before my ps3 always used 2 pick up my wireless even when it was downstairs and my wireless was upstairs lyk it is now but i started using another wireless simply because it was faster but now ever since that wireless has been disconnected my wireless doesnt seem 2 work but round about May/June it worked fineee
