I've always burned my xbox360 games with imgburn, without any other programs, just mount and burn, worked fine everytime I did it, until lately, I've tried burning Halo ODST and Forza Motorsport 3, but when I put these in my xbox360, it starts up the video screen, like I put in a dvd

What's wrong here? (I was banned from xbox-live a while back, so I didn't get the xbox live update , that new kind of wii look, don't know if that's the problem??)

I have the same problem with tekken 6 on a Hitachi 1.51 drive. Try checking your burned game in ABGX (instead of files just select burned dvd also make sure game is in drive). This will trouble shoot one possibility of burning a bad game. What firmware is on your xbox 360? As far as the updates they should come on the disc, atleast the avatar update. I noticed the games you mentioned are all wave 3 games so your firmware might be under 1.51(which doesnt support wave 3) which is causing you problems. If so patch your games so you can play them on earlier firmwares.

Is there a good faq about patching games somewhere? because I have no clue how to do that

And I guess I have older firmware indeed.. so patching games would fix that? or do I need to update my xbox360?

Patching games would work, but the best solution is to update your firmware. There is a new firmware coming out very soon, however. You may want to wait another week for that so you don't have to just flash again. If you decide to patch your games, if you ever do update, the games will no longer work.

Sounds like you didn't get the wave 3 update to your 360... well now there is a wave 4 update. So you are quite behind.

Once you update your firmware and play a wave 3 and wave 4 game, the updates will provided for you automatically.

Current firmware versions are 1.51 for Hitachi and 1.6 for all else. 1.61 is expected to be released within the week. 1.61 will allow wave 4 games to be played without a special 'activate' disc being used beforehand.

Also, even though you are already banned, you should really run every ISO through ABGX before you ever burn it. That will save you money and frustration from burning bad ISO files.

Another firmware option -- use an older firmware that does no stealth/CRC checking at all. These firmwares will boot any game, and you will never have to update your firmware again. The downside is that they make it easier for you to be banned - something you need not worry about.
